Jim Smart

I first joined Neil's Kinks digest when they numbered in the 200s somewhere. I remember that reaching digest number 500 seemed like an important milestone. A lot of new friends and strange wonderous oddballs have come and gone from the digest over the years. Some I still write to regularly, and some I've lost touch with. But through all the changes one thing has stayed constant: Neil Ottenstein's steady hard work to keep things on an even keel.

I finally met Neil at the turn of the century when my family was visiting Washington D.C.  Neil and I toured some of the art museums of the Smithsonian in our Kinks shirts. Though I don't write to him often, I think of him as a kindred spirit, a dad who's steady efforts try to make the world just a little better.

Thank you for the digests,
Those endless digests, those big and wild and half insane digests you gave me.
I bless the light,
I bless the light that lights on you believe me.
And through you're email digests,
You're in my inbox almost every day, believe me.

aloha,

Jim
