I have to admit to being unaware of the digest until the first couple of
tours I did with Dave Davies in 1997 and 1998. Once I was
alerted to it I signed up and began to read and lurk and drop a missive
in every now and then.
I have always appreciated the way Neil has
managed to keep it together and flowing and still let people have a
voice and a say in what is discussed.
The world has seen some
changes since the start of this online gathering and I will always
recall the passionate respones and debates post 9/11 and I will
certainly never forget playing outside at the WTC (in the summertime) in
2001 and meeting that great crew there who I heard made it out alive
and intact.
A special salute as well is in order to the two Franks,
Rafaela, Andrea, Jill, Kate Hunter and all of the seriously devoted East
Coast fans that made it all so worthwhile for us to play those gigs and
travel around in a passenger van often joined up with a crazy roadie or two!
A tip of the hat as well to Bill Orton, Russell Smith, Olga and the UK fans too. The fact that we can all stay in touch online is a real blessing and Neil has to be commended for that.
I know The
Kinks would not be where they are without the kind of dedication shown
them by the above mentioned folks.I may ramble on a bit, but
my heart is in the right place I think. Thanks to Neil for such good
work at what I still look forward to reading every time I see a new one
posted!
