My life would certainly be emptier without the Kinks Digest. Wow! 3,000 issues! I joined up before it was a digest. In fact, when I first got online on a friend's computer using Prodigy, "the Kinks" was my first search term. There was a Kinks group on Prodigy and I do
believe I met Wes there, or I could be mistaken -- maybe on AOL back in the Kinks chat days with Maria. And of course, I never would have met Marianne without this group. Sheesh, this is all so long ago. But
somebody for sure turned me on to Neil's Kinks email group and I was in Kinks' heaven! In the early days I posted non-stop. It was such a release to find other misfits like myself, total Kinks fanatics! Now
I'm more inclined to read it for the news with just the occasional comment. But it always gives me a thrill to read a post from somebody just discovering the band. Not so much a thrill when the inevitable post comes through claiming Jimmy Page played on "You Really Got Me."

As for Neil, although I have never met him, I have always thought that it is the coolest thing to have a rocket scientist as leader of our merry band of Misfits! Keep it up Neil! Long may the Digest keep us
all together!

This just in....

(Dec. 21, 2007 MUSWELL HILL, LONDON, ENGLAND). Dave Davies admitted today that Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin did indeed play on The Kinks mega-hit "You Really Got Me." Davies, after years of denying that Page played on the song, now admits that "Page came in the studio, grabbed a tambourine, and gave it a wack or two. The tape wasn't running at the time. Then we sent him out for pizza and he never came back with our money."

Now it can be told.
