Just like the KinKs have been the sound track to my life, Neil has been the
internet glue that has succeeded in keeping me clued in to more about the band, the music and
these nutty fans than I probably ever knew about them all collectively, before
coming across the Digest.
When I first got on the internet, I remember
finding a news group about the KinKs. I think it was called alt.fan.kinks. I
believe it was a poster named "Odsie" who made reference to the Digest in one of
the convoluted threads I would painfully try to follow. What a great idea to let
some one else do all the "heavy lifting"; sorting a assembling these missives
and enjoy in them daily in one blast! I checked it out and signed up. You'd have
to ask Neil when that was... and he could probably tell you!!
He labors quietly and unappreciated
behind the scenes. I lurk quietly; cherry picking the fruits of his labors,
unless I have something really stupid to say. Fortunately, I usually lie down
until that impulse passes or have another beer and forget about it! It's a great
deal for one of us!!
Coincidentally, though Neil and I live relatively
close to one another, we have only met on a few occasions. He drove over with
his VHS tape collection when I did the dvd marathon a few years back. Because he
lives close by and knows where I live, I will choose my words carefully! In my
estimation he is a quiet, unassuming fellow and a very nice guy - though
I suspect he must either be nuts for doing this so relentlessly or he is
secretly on the KinKs' payroll!
Neil really missed his calling working
for NASA. He should have been a mailman; because "Neither snow nor rain nor heat
nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their
appointed rounds". Neil & the KPS Digest is always in my mailbox. If it's
ever not there, I know where he lives and guess I could go get it. But this is
much better!
Neil, you are the man!! Keep it up for 3,000
more!
