There aren't too many things we can count on in life but the appearance of the
Kinks Digest in our inbox has come to be one of them!
While I'm not sure
of when, exactly, I joined the Digest, I do know it was the very first day that
I was given the internet at work. After a rather traumatic beginning, i.e.,
typing in "www.Kinks.com" and having my
screen filled, and I do mean filled, with a frighteningly large image of full
frontal nudity and having no clue how to get rid of it, I did a search and hit
paydirt. First, I found out that Ray was playing Queens College for two
nights--a gig I had no idea of whatsoever--and, second, that the Kinks Digest
actually existed. I joined up immediately.
With the Kinks disbanning, I
hadn't realized there was a community of dedicated followers still out there,
still celebrating the incredible music and artists that had defined my life.
Without Neil's incredible commitment to the Kinks and the Digest, my entire
Kinks life would have been limited to the past instead of being an active part
of my present and future.
Here's to you, Neil, as we mark the 3000th
Digest. Thank you for your "Labor of Love."
